Description
SimpleTranslate provides four preconfigured default translation engines that are ready to use without requiring API keys or complex setup: ST AI Default, ST DeepL Default, ST Google Translate Default, and ST AWS Default. Each engine is optimized for different use cases and is connected to the Default Glossary.

Available translation engine options
- ST DeepL Default
- ST Google Translate Default
- ST AI Default
- ST AWS Default
All Default Engines are connected with the Default Glossary. They are managed by Simple Translate and do not require any external API key.
How all default engines work
Step 1 — Activate the Translation Engine
- Go to Translation Engine in the navigation bar.
- Find and select the engine you want to use (e.g. ST DeepL Default).
- Look at the Translation Engine State.
- If it shows Inactive, click the Inactive button to activate it.
- Once activated, the state will change to Active.
Step 2 — Map Your Languages
- On the same engine page, go to the Language Mapping section.
- Find the language you want to translate into.
- If the language shows as Not Mapped, click Select Language and map it.
- Repeat this for every language you need.
Step 3 — Translate Your Metadata
- Go to Metadata Translator in the navigation bar.
- From the toolbar, select:
- Translation Engine — choose the engine you just activated.
- Language — choose the target language you mapped.
- Metadata — choose the metadata type you want to translate.
- Select the specific metadata items you want to translate.
- Click Translate.
ST AI Default
Overview
The ST AI Default engine uses ChatGPT technology to provide intelligent, context‑aware translations that maintain the tone and meaning of the original text.
Languages supported
Extensive language support with context‑aware translation capabilities.
How to activate
- Navigate to Translation Engine in the navigation bar.
- Select ST AI Default from the list.
- Select the button labeled InActive to activate.
AI Translation Instructions (Admin / Owner only)
- Select the edit icon on the ST AI Default engine.
- Scroll to the AI Translation Instructions section.
- Context Instruction: Enter domain‑specific context to guide AI translation.
- Example: “This is for a healthcare application. Use medical terminology appropriately.”
- Save the configuration.

ST DeepL Default
Overview
The ST DeepL Default engine uses DeepL’s advanced translation technology to provide high‑quality, natural‑sounding translations, especially for European languages.
Languages supported
36 languages.
How to activate
- Navigate to Translation Engine in the navigation bar.
- Select ST DeepL Default from the list.
- Select the button labeled InActive to activate.

ST AWS Default
Overview
The ST AWS Default engine uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) Translate to provide secure, scalable translations for a wide range of languages.
Languages supported
75 languages.
How to activate
- Navigate to Translation Engine in the navigation bar.
- Select ST AWS Default from the list.
- Select the button labeled InActive to activate.

ST Google Translate Default
Overview
The ST Google Translate Default engine uses Google’s translation service to provide translations for a wide range of languages.
Languages supported
194 languages.
How to activate
- Navigate to Translation Engine in the navigation bar.
- Select ST Google Translate Default from the list.
- Select the button labeled InActive to activate.
